The process of urban renewal lead to massive displacement of primarily low-income populations. It also uprooted many thriving Black communities and disrupted the potential of generational wealth within predominately Black neighborhoods. The impact cannot ever be fully understood in terms of economic, political and civic disenfranchisement. Data is lacking, difficult to find and of questionable merit but these figures cast some light on the scale of displacement in the name of "progress."
