Urban Renewal and Removal
Public Housing and Private Profit

A temporal breakdown of events that gave rise to the "Atlanta Model" focusing on: Leadership, Location & Displacement

A story of dates from "the city too segregated to hate" showing the underlying legal framework and political undercurrents of urban renewal and public housing. Atlanta presents a particularly compelling casestudy for examining this historical framework as it bears the unique title of being the first American city to experiment with public housing for low income citizens and the first city to eliminate large scale public housing -- "The Atlanta Model"*

*The legal framework employed by the Atlanta Housing Authority to demolish "Projects" and replace them with "mixed-income" developments has been coined "The Atlanta Model" after being adopted to "solve the problem" of public housing in other cities.
