Leadership

Looking to the top (& "bottom") for perspective on Atlanta's history of "progress"

The focus on city leadership of the city on this site provides a temporal breakdown of different periods of development in Atlanta with respect to urban renewal and shifting attitudes of the role of public housing. Everything about the concept of public housing is political so it makes sense to view changes in our city as demarcated by the change in city leadership.

The breakdown of this site as a timeline is demarcated by different mayoral leadership but this page will provide information about the "leaders" of change and displacement in addition to those who resisted displacement and organized for, and within, the "projects" to create leadership "from the bottom" after the city acquiesced from their leadership role within public housing.

The people behind the change

There are many others not mentioned here but these are some of the key "players" in the campaign for/against "progress."

Note: This is a working document with information added to it as more history is uncovered.
